Business Analyst

Obsidian Information Technologies is a dynamic and forward-thinking technology consultancy that specializes in delivering groundbreaking technology solutions for a diverse range of industries. We are seeking an experienced and motivated Business Architect to contribute and collaborate on a client project.
This is a 2-month, client-facing, process-intensive assignment based at one of our premium client sites in Sandton, with a clear mandate: analyse, model, and document business processes across relevant operational areas to support ongoing improvement and system alignment initiatives. The successful candidate will work closely with business stakeholders and will be expected to deliver structured, audit-ready process artefacts within a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Engage with business stakeholders across departments to elicit and validate process information

Conduct structured process discovery sessions, including interviews and workflow observations

Analyse current-state (as-is) business processes (in context of internal and external systems) to identify inefficiencies, gaps, and handover points

Develop future-state (to-be) process models where required, in alignment with business objectives

Produce clear, standardised process documentation including flow diagrams, swimlane charts, and narrative descriptions

Model business processes using a recognised notation standard (BPMN 2.0 preferred)

Compile and maintain a process register cataloguing all documented processes, owners, and versions

Identify and document business rules, decision points, and exception paths within each process

Present findings and process models to business owners and management for review and sign-off

Deliver all documentation to an agreed standard within the contracted timeframe.
REQUIREMENTS
- Proven experience as a Business Analyst, with a strong track record in process analysis and documentation

Proficiency in BPMN 2.0 or equivalent process modelling notation
- experience with tools such as Visio, Lucidchart, or Camunda

Ability to translate complex operational workflows into clear, accessible process documentation for both technical and non-technical audiences

Strong facilitation and stakeholder engagement skills — able to extract meaningful process insight from subject-matter experts at all levels

Solid understanding of process improvement frameworks (Lean, Six Sigma, or similar) is advantageous

Experience in the automotive retail, dealership, or motor group environment is beneficial but not essential

Relevant tertiary qualification in Business Analysis, Information Systems, Industrial Engineering, or a related field

IIBA certification (CBAP, CCBA, ECBA or equivalent) is an advantage

Self-directed and delivery-focused, with the ability to manage time and output independently under a fixed-term mandate.
